　　在爪哇岛的活火山口中收集，一片片的硫磺在填满矿工的篮子后重达一百磅（45公斤）。爬上Ijen火山口，然后下坡，经过7个半小时运到一个工厂，每个工人仅靠他肌肉的力量来完成这趟运送。

Gathered from the crater of an active volcano on Java, slabs of sulfur weighing more than a hundred pounds (45 kilograms) fill a miner’s baskets. Up and out of Ijen Crater, then downslope for seven and a half hours to a factory, each worker delivers his load using nothing but his own muscle power.

I had spent three days shooting the sulfur miners. Because of the sulfur acid, one camera broke down—the acid damaged all the copper contacts. To protect myself from the sulfur smoke, I wore a gas mask, but the miners did not.
　　我花了三天时间来拍摄硫磺采矿者。含硫的酸性甚至毁掉了我的一部相机——酸腐蚀了铜质触点。为了在硫磺蒸汽中保护我自己，我带了一个防毒面具，但是这些矿工们什么保护措施也没有。
